A recent report reveals serious flaws in FIFA’s ethics committee process for investigating sexual misconduct, particularly in the ongoing complaint against Hubert Busby Jr, head coach of the Jamaican women’s national team.
The complaint, made by former Vancouver Whitecaps player Malloree Enoch, accuses Busby of misconduct during his tenure with the Whitecaps in 2010-11.
Despite Enoch never being contacted for an interview or receiving case updates, she logged into the FIFA portal in early 2025 to find her complaint marked as “case closed.” FIFA later clarified that the status referred only to the reporting stage, not the investigation itself. Critics, including Joanna Maranhão of the Sports & Rights Alliance, condemned FIFA’s handling as inadequate and lacking a trauma-informed approach.
